Volleyball: Buford sweeps, JHS splits in trimatch

OAKWOOD -- Class AAA No. 7 Buford swept a pair matches while Johnson earned a split in a tri-match Tuesday at the Johnson gym.

Buford beat Chestatee 25-16, 25-6 and then knocked off Johnson 25-12, 25-19

The Lady Knights then whipped Chestatee 25-12, 25-17 in the nightcap.

Mikhayla Riegel had 25 digs and Maggie Roper 17 kills and five aces for the Lady Wolves (17-14). Kaitlin Tatum had 11 kills and Tori Payton had 25 assists for Buford.

Kasey Gravitt had three aces and two assists and Lindsey Anderson added three kills and five digs for Johnson against Chestatee. Savannah Turk had two aces, two kills, and three digs for Johnson.

Against Buford,, Kari's Sloan had 2 1/2 blocks and Lejavian Ratliff had one kill and eight digs.

Johnson is now 22-11 and next will take on Class AAA eighth-ranked East Hall and Jackson County on Thursday for Senior night.
