Pollard races to championship at GMP

By staff
JEFFERSON -- Bubba Pollard recently claimed the 2012 Super Late Model Points Championship at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson.

Running consistently in the top five, with one sixth-place finish in a segment of the Commerce Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram World Crown 300, Pollard managed to capture the 2012 Super Late Model Points Championship at GMP. Pollard, who finished the race season with 115 points, was only 15 points ahead of Chase Elliott. Besides Elliott, Pollard built a strong lead over Super Late Model contenders Paul Kelley and Kyle Benjamin, who both finished the season with 60 points.

Points Champions for other divisions that run at GMP will be determined after each division race on Oct. 13. Mini Stock, Renegade, Sportsman, Outlaw Late Model and Truck Champions will be announced and awarded before the green flag falls for the Pro Late Models. The Pro Late Model Points Champion will be recognized after the JEGS 50 Pro Late Model race event.

For point standings, please visit GMP's website and click on the "Driver Info" tab.

The JEGS 50 will be on Oct. 13 and will be the last scheduled 2012 race event at GMP. Grandstands and trackside parking will open at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m.
