Dahlonega man killed in weekend crash on Hwy. 53

By B.J. Williams News Director
GAINESVILLE - A motorcyclist was killed Saturday on Highway 53 at the Hall-Forsyth County line, according to authorities with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Spokeswoman Karleen Chalker identified the victim as Sidney Paul Agent, 45, of Copper Mill Road in Dahlonega.

She said Agent was riding his motorcycle westbound around 6:00 p.m. when an SUV being driven by 41-year-old Jimmy Darrell Barnett, Jr. of Murrayville made a left turn into the path of the motorcycle. Agent was airlifted from the scene and later died at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

A passenger in Barnett's SUV received minor injuries, according to investigators.

The accident happened near Chestatee Heights Road.

Investigators said charges are pending, although they said alcohol, drugs nor speed appear to be factors in the accident.
