Softball: Union's Hughes records 800th K

By staff reports
HOMER -- Union County senior pitcher Angie Hughes recorded her 800th career strike out Thursday in leading the Lady Panthers to a 10-1 win over Banks County in Region 8-AA girls softball action.

Hughes, who helped Union County to a Class AA state runner-up finish in 2010, is just 200 strikeouts shy of 1,000, which has only been reached by seven otherb pitchers in Georgia history.

Hannah Hughes provided the main spark on offense for the Lady Panthers with a fourth inning grand slam.
