Police raids target 'sellers' of synthetic drugs

By Ken Stanford Reporter
CLARKESVILLE - Authorities began raiding businesses in the Mountain Judicial Circuit Monday morning, targeting sellers of "synthetic" marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.

The raids focused on stores and other businesses in Habersham, Stephens and Rabun counties, according to Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brian Rickman.

Rickman says the operation follows an "extended" undercover investigation and that 65 law enforcement officers from several agencies fanned out over the three counties at 8:00.

He added that indictments against both individuals and corporations have been sought in Habersham and Rabun counties and will be unsealed Tuesday.
