Consuming Fire is state girls' soccer champ

The Consuming Fire U-12 girls soccer team recently claimed a state championship, competing with 38 of the top 8-on-8 teams in Georgia.

The team played under the sponsorship of the Georgia Mountains YMCA, and members are from Hall and Habersham counties. The team won the Georgia Soccer Association's Academy Cup for the league tournament held at Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.

Team members of the Consuming Fire include Erin Byers, Ansley Rochester, Alexis Kent, Jordan Pruitt Kindra Purdy, Bethany Whitenton, Elizabeth Duncan, Rachel Collins, Kelsey Yoder, Mary Passmore, Riley Perry and Anna Abercrombie.
