GDOT plans meeting on Friendship Rd. widening

By Staff
FLOWERY BRANCH - The Georgia Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting next month focusing on the proposed detour necessary for the upcoming widening of Friendship Road.

The open house is scheduled for Nov. 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Friendship Elementary School. Georgia DOT engineers will be available to discuss the proposed project, detour routes necessary during construction and potential locations for noise wall installation. There will be no formal presentation.

The DOT plans to widen Friendship Road from Interstate 985 east to State Route 211 in Hall County.

"Our goal is to share information with the community about the upcoming construction project," said DOT District Engineer Todd McDuffie. "We want you to know the status of the project, details about the detours that will occur during construction and the potential locations for the installation of noise walls."

After the detour open house, the displays of the project will be available at the Georgia DOT Gainesville Area Office located at 2505 Athens Highway in Gainesville.

The plans will also be available on the DOT's website, www.dot.ga.gov.
