Girls basketball: No. 7 Chestatee holds off North Hall

MURRAYVILLE -- Class AAA No. 7 Chestatee used a 17-6 first quarter to grab the lead and then cruised to a 55-43 Region 8A-AAA win over arch-rival North Hall Friday night in girls basketball action.

The Lady War Eagles (12-2, 1-0 in subregion) led 28-17 at halftime and then 42-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

North Hall (5-7, 0-1) outscored Chestatee 18-13 in the fourth quarter to make it closer.

Peyton Roberston led Chestatee with 19 points and seven rebounds. Emily Crain added 12 points for the Lady War Eagles. Melissa Bailey had seven points and six rebounds for Chestatee.

Chestatee travels to Union County Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.

The East Hall girls basketball team followed up its Lanierland title by winning the McDonald's Shootout Friday. The Lady Vikings beat Elbert County 50-35 in the championship game at the Hart County gym.
