Young Harris College honors Green Family

YOUNG HARRIS - Lillie Mae Green, lifelong resident of Gainesville and widow of the late Frank Green, founder of Green's Grocery Store, was honored today by Young Harris College for her generous support of the College.

Enotah Hall is a LEED Silver-certified 200-bed residence hall that opened in August 2009. That same year Mrs. Green designated $2 million for Enotah Hall and made special provisions through her estate to further endow the Ronnie Green Scholarship at the college. Ronnie was Mrs. Green's son and a 1965 alumnus of Young Harris College.

The ceremony was part of the college's annual Alumni/Homecoming Weekend.

Denise Cook from the Office of Communications and Marketing at Young Harris said, "The College is extremely thankful for Mrs. Green's generosity and we are delighted to be able to honor her family's legacy on this special occasion."

A ribbon cutting ceremony dedicated an exhibit inside the first floor lobby of Enotah Hall telling the Green Family story. The common area was named the "Green Family Lobby".

Founded in 1886, Young Harris College is a private, baccalaureate degree-granting college located in the scenic north Georgia mountains.
