Boy, 11, recovering after dog bites ear

ATLANTA -An 11-year-old boy has lost part of an ear and his mother is upset with animal control officials after a dog attack at a northwest Atlanta apartment complex.

Family members say it took 36 stitches to close the wound on Charles Fields' ear and he suffered bites all over his body.

Fields says he was playing with a stray dog who suddenly began snapping at him.
Deanthia Edwards tells WSB TV that she had complained to Fulton County Animal Control about dogs running loose in the complex for more than a year.
She says nothing was done.

But a representative for Animal Control says twice the agency has gotten calls about strays in the area and it has captured the dogs.
