Poll: Deal still leads Barnes in governor's race

UNDATED - Former U.S. Representative Nathan Deal continues to lead the leading Democrat in the race for governor, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey.

A survey of likely voters in Georgia shows Deal, a Republican, earning 47 percent of the vote compared to Democrat Roy Barnes' 40 percent.

State Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine and former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel edge Barnes by nearly identical margins - 43 percent to 39 percent and 42 percent to 39 percent, respectively.

Against Democrat Thurbert Baker, Georgia's attorney general, Oxendine holds a 50 percent to 29 percent lead. Handel runs ahead of Baker by 11 points â
