Soccer: Hab. Central moves one win from 8-AAAA title

By staff reports
MOUNT AIRY -- The third-ranked Habersham Central boys soccer team blasted Cedar Shoals 6-0 on senior night in Mt. Airy on Tuesday.

One of the Raiders 12 seniors, Orlando Navarrete, opened the scoring in the 19th minute as he got on the end of a pass from senior, Miguel Alvarez, scoring past a charging Cedar Shoals goalkeeper.

Just before the break, senior Nolan Hemmer also headed home a Miguel Alvarez corner kick for a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Gui Paoliello finished off a pass from Hemmer in the 49th minute for a 3-0 advantage. Two minutes later, Hemmer found a racing Andres Mora for the fourth of the evening. Navarrete then notched his second strike of the evening in the 77th minute off a Fabian Paramo pass. One minute later Paramo, a freshman, scored his first varsity goal with a blast from 25 yards out.

Habersham (12-2, 9-0 Region 8-AAAA) will travel to take on Apalachee on Wednesday night for the Region 8-AAAA title.
