Mundy Mill developer may not get everything he seeks

By Ken Stanford Reporter
GAINESVILLE - A plan to revive a part of a stalled mega-development on Mundy Mill Road near Oakwood goes before Gainesville planners Tuesday but the applicant may not get all he's asking for.

Butler Property, LLC, is seeking permission to put apartments - with a minimum of 500 square feet - on a part of the property zoned for condominiums and town homes.

But, the Gainesville planning staff, while recommending approval of the change, says a 750 square foot minimum should be preserved.

The 65-acre site is part of the 605-acre Mundy Mill Development which - until the real estate bust - was to have included up to 2,000 housing units. The planning and appeals board will consider the matter Tuesday.
