Borders delivers win for Brenau softball

DECATUR, Ala. -- Senior centerfielder Brooke Borders delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Katie Hulsey for a 3-2 win over Waldorf, Iowa, on Friday at the NAIA National Softball Championships in Decatur, Ala.

Hulsey led the way with three hits on the day, as the Tigers outhit Waldorf 12-7. Borders, Brooke Bryant, Marisa Litster and Morgan Smith had two hits each as Brenau left 11 runners stranded on base for the game.

Litster pitched a complete game, striking out eight and giving up one earned run.

Brenau will complete pool play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday as they face William Carey, Miss. Carey lost to Notre Dame, Ohio, today. The winner of tomorrow's game will have a shot at the championship round, if Notre Dame loses tomorrow.
