By B.J. Williams
WINDER - Police found 31 marijuana plants in a grow house across the street from Russell Middle School.

Lt. Dennis Dorsey with the Winder Police Department said investigators had been working on the case for about a month. Officers Friday obtained a search warrant for the home on Bellview Street.

Dorsey said when officers entered the home, they found 31 marijuana plants ranging in height from 3 to 5 feet. He also said police confiscated carbon dioxide tanks, which were used to stimulate growth of the plants.

Four people were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school. Those arrested are identified as Ryan Phillabaum, 23; Andrew Luther Brown, 22; Michael Charles Burns, 24; and Ashley Nicole Dailey, 19.

"It was an extraordinary amount of marijuana for us to get," Dorsey said. "We normally don't see marijuana in those amounts."
