At least two fatal wrecks in NE Georgia over the weekend

By Staff
UNDATED - The Georgia State Patrol says a man was killed when he failed to yield to an oncoming tractor-trailer as he attempted to turn onto Georgia Highway 53 in Hoschton on Saturday.

83-year-old John Thomas Kenerly was on Broad Street, trying to make a right turn onto highway 53. An eastbound 18-wheeler hit the side of Kenerly's car and then traveled over the top of the vehicle, according to the State Patrol.

Kenerly was pronounced dead on the scene.

A second fatal wreck occurred near Dahlonega on Sunday. The State Patrol confirms one person was killed in an accident on Georgia Highway 19 around 11:15 a.m. No further details had been released as of Sunday evening.
