Reminder: Lanierland rescheduled for Thursday

GAINESVILLE -- The 49th annual Lanierland basketball tournament has been moved up one day this week due to Flowery Branch's football team playing in the Class AAA championship game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Originally scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday, tournament organizers have moved the competition up to Thursday and Friday (Dec. 12 and 13) this week.

The tourney semifinals will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Gainesville High, while the championship and third-place games will take place on Friday.

Here is Thursday's semifinal schedule (all at Gainesville High):

-- 4 p.m., Gainesville girls vs. Flowery Branch
-- 5:30 p.m., Johnson boys vs. Lakeview
-- 7 p.m., North Hall girls vs. East Hall
-- 8:30 p.m., West Hall boys vs. North Hall

Hawks push win streak to six with win over Pacers
Joe Johnson scored 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, and the streaking Atlanta Hawks beat the Indiana Pacers 110-104 on Tuesday night. Josh Smith had 24 points, Mike Bibby scored 15 and Al Horford added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won six straight games and nine of 10.
