Wrestling: Jefferson dominates (again) at Panther Invitational

JEFFERSON - The famous Panther Invitational Wrestling Tournament took place at Jackson County High in Jefferson on Saturday and featured 24 teams and over 700 potential match-ups.

Multiple champion Jefferson continued its domination this year with 11 wrestlers out of 14 classes reaching the finals. Six picked up championships and five finished second. The Dragons piled up 321.5 points. Gilmer was a distant second at 169. White County and Morgan County got the third and fourth place trophies.

Hawks push win streak to six with win over Pacers
Joe Johnson scored 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, and the streaking Atlanta Hawks beat the Indiana Pacers 110-104 on Tuesday night. Josh Smith had 24 points, Mike Bibby scored 15 and Al Horford added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won six straight games and nine of 10.

Basketball: Lady Trojans rally late to beat West Hall
McKenna Rushton hit consecutive 3-pointers to cap a 10-4 run in the fourth wuarter to give North Hall its first lead since the opening minutes of the game and the Lady Trojans held on down the stretch to take a 36-33 win over West Hall Tuesday night at the West Hall gum.
