Group opposes crematory in Demorest

By by Ken Stanford
DEMOREST - Plans for a crematory in Demorest are drawing opposition from a number of people.

The Demorest City Council voted to table the issue at the request of the city attorney who wants more time to research the question. The council, meanwhile, was presented a petition calling on members to reject the application from Whitfield Funeral Home.

Keith Orr presented a petition against the facility citing health concerns and a possible adverse impact on property values.

Orr said the petition contained 230 signatures.
