Beat lose to CyberRays

ATLANTA - Brandi Chastain's header in the 69th minute gave the San Jose CyberRays a 1-0 win over the Atlanta Beat on Saturday night, snapping a two-game losing streak.

LaKeysia Beene recorded her second shutout, while making four saves for San Jose (2-2), which beat Atlanta for the first time in regular-season play. Atlanta, which scored 11 goals in its first two games, went scoreless for the first time.

Chastain took a feed from Sissi in the left side of the goalie box and headed it past Briana Scurry for the winner.

Atlanta's best chance to score came in the 24th minute, when Charmaine Hooper caught Beene out of goal but her shot across the mouth of the goal skidded past.

The Beat's last chance came on a free kick during stoppage time, when Abby Crumpton's header sailed over the cross bar.
