Hall Planners withdraw warehouse approval

By By Jerry Gunn
GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville attorney went one for two at the Hall County Planning Commission Monday night.

Mike Weaver won easy approval on his rezoning request for a five lot subdivision on Sutton Road.

It was different on a rezoning request for a tile company asking to locate an office/warehouse on Atlanta Highway at Glen Oak Drive.

The Commission voted 3-2 to approve, then withdrew approval to allow more time to discuss conditions to protect nearby homes.

Commissioners passed a motion to table the request unanimously.

The request comes up again at the next meeting June 2nd.

Planning staff had recommended denial because the land use did not fit in the area and did not conform to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan.

The Planning Commission unanimously approved an application for the Brown's Bridge Assembly of God to set up a day care center over objections from a nearby home owner.

Elizabeth Linderman questioned the impact of the day care center on her home.

"it'll be a lot of traffic and a lot of noise right there," Linderman said.

Linderman urged the Commission to require a good buffer if they approved the application.

Planning director said a bush buffer already existed on the site.

Breedlove Properties withdraw an application for rezoning to permit a 29 lot sub-division on 25 acres on the west side of Harmony Church Road.
