ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Transportation says that HOV lanes on Interstate 85 is having a positive effect of car poolers that commute to Atlanta. <br>

The report to the state transportation board says that since the lanes opened in November that car pooler usage has risen to 53 percent. <br>
<br>
A future project map indicates that lanes will soon be added to extend farther North on Interstate 85 and be added the Interstate 985 and Highway 316. <br>
<br>
The DOT says it intends to study the impact of the HOV lanes annually.
