OAKWOOD - Amateur radio operators moved out into the woods and fields at Gainesville College this weekend to check emergency preparedness.
That included setting up and transmitting with a mobile power source
Gainesville amateur radio operator Mike Murray was among the first to set up under the tall trees in GC's lower field.
Murray said club members provided emergency communications after the September 11th terrorist attack on New York.
During the American Radio Relay League's Field Day the Gainesville hams made contacts across the continent and overseas.
