Track and field: GHS boys, NHall girls lead after Day 1 at Hall County Championships

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Day 1 of the Hall County Track and Field Championships began on Wednesday with the field events, the 1600-meter girls race and the 3200-meter boys race at Chestatee.

The Gainesville boys and North Hall girls both will take significant leads into Thursday's final day. The Red Elephants have a 26.5-point lead over second place West Hall (52). The Lady Trojans lead second-place Cherokee Bluff (54) by 24 points.

Gainesville’s Conner Proffitt captured the 3200-meter event. 

North Hall’s Abi Moore edged teammate Clodagh O’Bryant to capture the 1600-meter title. 

North Hall continued its solid day with wins in the girls' and boys' pole vault, high jump, and triple jump. 

Rachael Seid won the pole vault, and Eve Taylor soared to the high jump title. 

Brandon Ballard earned the win in the pole vault, while Kaithlyn Silos took the triple jump crown. 

West Hall’s Keyvan Allen won the boy's triple jump, and Cherokee Bluff’s Olivia Owens took home the girl's long jump championship. 

Day 2 will feature the remaining running events, beginning at 4 p.m. with the 4X800-meter relay at Chestatee High School.
